Frequently Asked Question

How do I maintain contact lists for use in New Outlook for Mac?
Last Updated a year ago

Introduction

Currently, the new version of Outlook for Mac does not support contact lists.  We have replicated this functionality with a separate program.

Installation

From Managed Software Centre, select the Software tab, select the Utilities category, then locate Contact List Manager and click its Install button.

Wait for the program to install.  If you want to view installation progress, select the Updates tab.

Once installed, the program will be located in your Applications folder.  It is recommended that you drag this application to your Dock for easy access.

Contact List Creation

Contact List Manager works with text files containing a list of e-mail addresses; one line per e-mail address.

TextEdit can be used to create these lists, but files need to be saved in .txt format.  To do this, convert the document to plain text by selecting Format menu > Make Plain Text.

The files can be saved anywhere, but will need to be moved into the Contact Lists folder to be used.

Contact List Manager Setup

Open the Contact List Manager application.  It will say that you do not have any contact list files, but during this process, it will create your Contact Lists folder inside your home folder.  Click OK to dismiss the error message.

Next, in the Finder, navigate to the Go menu > Home.  Inside this folder, open the Contact Lists folder.

Then, copy or move the files created in the Contact List Creation step into the Contact Lists folder.  To check if you've done this correctly, when you open the Contact List Manager application, it will show a list of contact list files inside this folder.

How to Use Contact List Manager

Open the Contact Lists Manager application.

Then, select the contact list you wish to compose a new e-mail for.

This will open a new window with the e-mail addresses specified in the contact list file.
