Frequently Asked Question

How do I change my password?
Last Updated 4 years ago

The preferred method of changing your password is through the standard macOS interface.

  1. Ensure your computer is connected to either the SD59Staff or SD59Student networks.  This method does not work properly if your computer cannot access an Active Directory server.
  2. Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
  3. Select the Users and Groups preference pane.
  4. Select your user account in the users list on the left side.
  5. Under the Password tab, click the Change Password button on the right side.
  6. Enter your current password in the Old Password field.
  7. Enter your desired password in the New Password and Verify fields.
  8. Click the Change Password button.

If the above method does not work for you, you can also reset your password through the ADFS web portal.

  1. Go to https://adfs.sd59.bc.ca/adfs/portal/updatepassword
  2. Enter your e-mail address in the Username field.
  3. Enter your current password in the Old Password field.
  4. Enter your desired password in the New Password and Confirm New Password fields.
  5. Click the Submit button.

When using the web portal method, you will also need to update your macOS keychain password.
