Frequently Asked Question

How do I erase cookies?
Last Updated 4 years ago

Cookies are small bits of information passed back and forth between your web browser and the websites you visit.  They can be used for a variety of different purposes.  They are most commonly used to maintain your login status and site settings, but also allow for less desirable functionality, such as advertising networks tracking your activity on participating websites.

If you are experiencing issues with a website, one of the first troubleshooting steps is to erase your browser's cookies, which effectively logs you out and disassociates any session data that may be causing issues.

To erase all cookies for all websites:

  1. In the menu bar, select the Firefox menu, then select Preferences.
  2. In the screen that appears, select the Privacy and Security tab on the left side.
  3. On the right side, find the Cookies and Site Data section.
  4. Click the Clear Data... button. The Clear Data dialog box will appear.
  5. Make sure Cookies and Site Data is checked.
  6. Click the Clear button.
