Frequently Asked Question

How do I link to staff contact forms?
Last Updated 3 years ago

In an attempt to reduce the volume of spam we receive, we have decided to avoid posting e-mail addresses anywhere on our site except in special circumstances, and instead use a web-based contact form. It is able to defeat many spammers by not publishing e-mail addresses in plain text, and also requires completion of a captcha to send messages, which is difficult to automate.

As a website editor, it is your responsibility to ensure no e-mail addresses are published directly to the website.

Step 1: Determine the ID of the person you wish to link to.

Go to https://www.sd59.bc.ca/admin/contacts

Use the search fields to locate the person, and copy the contact form link.  Note that all links to the contact form follow a similar pattern: /contact/staff?id=#.

Step 2: Link to the contact form.

While creating or editing content, select the text you would like to link to, then click the Link button. Best practice is to create the link on the person's name, as seen below.

In the URL field, paste the contact link from step 1, then click Save.

Step 3: Test the link.

When your content has been properly published, be sure to test the link to the contact form. If done correctly, the contact form will be populated with the recipient's name.
